AUDIO BOOKS AND DOWNLOAD AUDIO

Maybe it’s a carry-over from our childhood, but we all still seem to love being read to. I know from my E-mail how many of you rely on audio books to keep you company as you exercise, commute to work, or vacation. I'll admit, however, that I was surprised to discover how many people listen to audio books at work. (A big hello to all my dear audio friends at the United States Post Office!)

You'll notice that most of my titles are available for rental as well as purchase. As a less expensive option, some of you may want to try your public library. If you don't see my titles, request that they be ordered. Most librarians are wonderfully accommodating. I've also offered links to those companies that have web sites. Just type my name in their search engine.

As many of you know on December 14, 2006, our beloved Kate Fleming/Anna Fields, the woman who lent her magnificent voice to the audio recordings of sixteen of my books, died after a flash flood knocked her Seattle house off its foundation and trapped her in the basement. I am devastated by the tragic loss of this wonderful, funny, talented woman. I got to know Kate after she recorded IT HAD TO BE YOU, and through the years, we frequently e-mailed and spoke on the phone, as well as meeting in person for lunch one sunny Chicago day. I know from my e-mail how much all of you enjoyed Kate’s skillful interpretation of my books.

Kate finished recording NATURAL BORN CHARMER about two months before her death. Here’s a perfect example of how conscientious she was. The book contains some song lyrics I borrowed from my son Zach. Kate phoned me in the middle of recording to see if the lyrics had music. When I told her they did, but the music wasn't written down anyplace immediately accessible to her, she called Zach at work and had him sing the songs to her over the phone so she could get the melodies right.

Unless otherwise indicated, all titles are read by her. Kate, I'll miss you so much. We all will.

Most of my audio books are available on cassette, CD and most recently as mp3 downloadables. You can download your favorite SEP books to your iPod, computer or mp3 player and listen to them virtually anytime and anywhere. See the symbols and links below to find which audio book formats are available for each title.

E-books (non-audio versions) are available for many of Susan’s books.
